Hello camera geeks, gearheads and… well… those of you who just want the best tools for your trade. You heard right, I'm back with another unboxing, this time of the hotly anticipated Nikon D4s -- generously sent to me to by my friends at DPReview for a hands-on first impression, and it's available from my homies/gear partners at Adorama. There's one thing about classical music that I've always believed: it is far better to see it performed than to hear a recording of it. While this is true for just about all kinds of music, the multi-layered nature of classical compositions (especially pieces that call for large orchestras) make it even more suited than normal for in-person performance. And when those performances take place in public, the experience is all the more radical. Breaking... read more ›

I dunno what you've got planned for today and over the weekend, but if you've got a spare 140 seconds, head over to www.NikonFestival.com and watch the 50 best 140-second video submissions that we've whittled down from more than 1,000 entries. There are some stunning shorts in there.I'll be gathering virtually with fellow judges Rainn Wilson (The Office) and Jusine Ezarik (iJustine) to try to nail down who we're giving the grand prize of $100,000... read more ›

First real day back in the saddle after the holidays? Steal a few minutes and watch this vid. It's not a requirement to love photography as much as the next person, but I love seeing people who love it as much me, my friends, and these guys do. It'll probably remind you why you love photography too. Viva Hamburger Eyes.(via lensculture)

This is a 2009 sample reel from Stargate Studios. Hollywood all the way. Some of the shots from this video reel are certainly better than others, but that's not my point. My point is that this technology is becoming increasingly more available and affordable for still and video production, and is soon to be everywhere. Heck, we even used this technology pretty extensively in The Blakes music video we released last month (thanks to Superfad's... read more ›

Typically, the end of each year marks a time for celebration. In that spirit, each autumn our studio has an anniversary party where we celebrate with our clients, business friends and co-collaborators. It's an eclectic mix of about 600 people, from graffiti artists, restaurateurs, musicians, ad execs, city officials and the whole spectrum in between. Everyone lets their hair down and unwinds with the mission of having a darn good time. This year's event... read more ›

The holidays are a time for cheer, but they're also a time for giving. As such I've joined forces with some friends here in Seattle to help bring you GIVESEATTLE.ORG. GIVESEATTLE.ORG is simple: we've compiled more than 30 amazing tracks from some of Seattle's best bands/musicians and wrapped it into one compilation that is downloadable for just $7. And 100% of the money goes directly to support Arts Corps and Seattle Area Food Banks.... read more ›
