I began posting portfolios of images shot with my iPhone more than two years ago now. And my love affair isn’t wearing off, it’s growing stronger. The best camera still is–and always will be–the one that’s with you.
I post iPhone snapshots everyday to my twitter, facebook, and www.thebestcamera.com, but I haven’t updated my iPhone portfolio page in quite some time.
Until yesterday.
I dug through a huge pile of images and completely refreshed the gallery with some new favorites. Scott and I are in a little disagreement as to which ones are hot and which ones are not. As such, I’d love some of your targeted feedback. Please visit my new iPhone portfolio page here and tell me in the comments below which image is your most favorite AND which is your least favorite image. We’ll did this crowd-sourced edit once before and it was really helpful. We’ll make some changes if a pattern emerges.
Since there’s work involved in your edit, I’ll give some shoutouts and send a signed book or three to some randomly selected people who are willing to lend a hand with editing thoughts. Thanks in advance for your time.—
[Shameless plug: In case you’re new here or just wondering, I created–and shared–most of these using the app I developed last fall called Best Camera, available on iTunes.]
Best Image: 16 – It's interesting, sexy, has great composition and lighting and makes me want to know who this lady is.
Worst Image: 18 – "Oh look, mountains." Looks like it was taken from a moving car while driving through the mountains. Beautiful location, uninspiring photo.
Favorite: 16
Least favorite: 14
I love the picture with the man in plaid taking photos of she sea birds. It's relateable because I'm from a small coastal town and I do this all the time, hoping I won't get crapped on.
My least favorite, just because of the content, was the dead pig. I just ate my breakfast which was coincidentally saussage and toast. *holds back, gulps*
Fav: hood ornament (#08 right). the pairing with #08 left doesn't really work for me though.
Least fav: the vehicles in #14. They just speak one huge empty bit of silence to me. Closely followed by #13 left and #13 right.
Couple overall comments: Generally, I like the more abstract images (eg #30, #24 right, #22 left, #23 left, #19) better for iPhone pics.
Some images are nice (eg. #17, #18, #32) but in my opinion they don't show anything particular to the iPhone and (or any in-phone app edits). They could have been very well been taken with any other camera without anybody noticing, so I'd say they'd also be candidates for replacement.
Girl with a kite on a hill. B&W.; I dig it!
