My Guy Knows His Sh*t: The #AskGaryVee Book Review is HERE

You guys know, if I share something — a product, a service, an idea, a CAMERA — it’s sure to be something I believe in. Hell, I’ve even been been paid lots of money to represent brands and gear before but I’ve only considered things I ACTUALLY USE AND BELIEVE IN. I’ve spent a decade or more building your trust – and that’s too valuable for me to gamble with in an instant.

This episode of cjRAW carries that same weight – and so it will come of no surprise that I’m feeling pumped on my guy Gary Vaynerchuk’s new book, #AskGaryVee: One Entrepreneur’s Take on Leadership, Social Media, and Self-Awareness. It dropped last week, and THIS week it just became his FOURTH New York Times Best Seller. Naturally I got my hands on an advance copy, but I’ve been on the road for the last 2 weeks straight, so I finally was able to grab 5 minutes here and share my thoughts…

What makes the #AskGaryVee book so powerful? Naturally – you can pick up from the title – it’s all the questions YOU asked / wanted to know about hustling, starting a business, marketing, digital media, crushing it, empathy, freelancing, venture capitol, and more. In fact, in the #cjRAW vid above, I touch on 3 things I love about the book:

  1. Actionable Stuff You Care About – Gary takes a deep dive in a no-nonsense way into the things you care about most. Even better, you don’t have to read this one front to back. It’s written in bite-sized pieces so you can read anywhere in the book, and still get great advice.
  2. New Perspectives – My best learning and inspiration about how to succeed in my line of work has almost always come from places outside the “creative sphere” (photography, design, music + audio) — especially around how to make MONEY. I consider this a new bible of sorts on this topic. So, if your a freelancer, photographer, or designer — guaranteed, this book will have something for you. Just like Gary’s his cjLIVE episode was so damn popular…this book has value for you and me, stacked everywhere throughout th 400 pages in this book.
  3. Specific Answers = Universal Advice. I’m sure by now you’ve heard me say … in the particular lies the universal. Gary answers + elaborates on hundreds of very specific questions about business and the hustle life and extracts what he’s learned after years of building a successful career on his terms. This is something we can directly apply to our own work.

So, there’s my two cents …. Oh, and by the way, there’s an #AskGaryVee audiobook version that’s definitely worth the listen if that’s your thing. Not only does Gary narrate… he goes off tangents, puts a lot of expression and extra tidbits that aren’t in the printed version. Of course, the real reason why it’s so good is because yours truly makes a little cameo. 😉
