Chase Jarvis wins APA National Merit Award for Sports/Action/Adventure

October 27, 2008 (New York) – Today the 2008 Advertising Photographers of America competition notified Chase about his winning the Merit Award for the sports, action and adventure category. Hand selected out of thousands of first-class images by hundreds of killer photographers worldwide, this is Chase’s fourth category win in five years (2004, 2006, 2007, 2008). Chase’s winning image above is from a series he shot with Superfad for their campaign for the Kung Fu HD network .

Chase Jarvis Launches First Book Stevens Pass at REI

October 17th, 2008 (Seattle) – To kick off the winter season and to inaugurate the release of his first self published book titled Stevens Pass, Chase Jarvis tonight gave a multimedia presentation hosted at the REI flagship store in Seattle. Complete with live DJ and hundreds of images, the evening was a dramatic success. Joining the standing room only crowd were many of the athletes appearing in the as well as a handful of Seattle celebrities. The Chase Jarvis crew also managed to raise more than $2000 though raffles and a silent auction throughout the course of the evening for the non-profit Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center.

Chase Jarvis Featured on Television’s KING 5 “Evening Magazine”

October 16th, 2008 (Seattle) – The highest-rated locally-produced show in the country, “Evening Magazine”, this evening featured Seattle native, Chase Jarvis. The piece highlighted some amazing footage of Chase on location in New Zealand and Chile, the tangible elements of a photo shoot like talent, stylists, and other production logistics; and also encapsulated the Chase’s creative mind behind it all.

The timing of the show was timed impeccably with the launch of Chase’s first self published book, Stevens Pass. TV show’s host, John Curly, closed the program by promoting the highly awaited book and book signing event at REI on October 17th.

As an embarrassing aside, Chase was earlier this year announced as one of the 25 Most Beautiful People in Seattle by “Evening Magazine”. Rumor has it he threw up in his mouth when this was announced, but click here to check him out.

Chase Jarvis Inc. 2008 Anniversary Party

September 16th, 2008 (Seattle) – Chase Jarvis Inc. celebrated it’s first anniversary of their new studio location by throwing one helluva bash. This private gathering for over 400 work associates closed down Seattle’s Wallingford Avenue, brought barrels of libations, hired bartenders from the famous club Neumos, and blazed amazing live music on an erected stage overlooking Gasworks Park and Seattle’s glimmering skyline. The Mt. St. Helen’s Vietnam Band kicked off the evening, followed by The Blakes, and The Saturday Knights rapped into the wee hours of the morning. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event.


Chase Jarvis Wins International Photography Awards Special Effects Category

September 2008 (Los Angeles) – The International Photography Awards today announced Chase Jarvis as the 1st place winner in the Special Effects category. With over 22,000 submissions from over 124 countries across the globe, Chase and his Kung Fu HD series (where he was hired by Superfad to shoot the print equivalent of their highly regarded motion campaign) emerge from the prestigious contest to take home their first IPA award. Chase Jarvis + Nikon D90 = An Exciting New Wave for Photography

August 27, 2008 (Seattle) – Nikon today announces the release of the new D90 camera and asked Chase to be the first professional photographer to give it a try. Chase was hired to shoot the worldwide launch campaign, and added a nice touch by producing a behind-the-scenes video highlighting how this camera performed during a week-long test during one of his commercial shoots. Continuing to make the rounds this award season, Chase has been nominated for the Advertising Series category of the 2008 New York Photo Awards for his stunning work on REI's adventurous and experimental Boulder store. Already a category winner in the 2008 PDN Photo Annual, this series of work continues to shine. The nomination comes as part of the inaugural New York Photo Festival. May 14, 2008 (New York City). Chase yesterday accepted awards for PDN Magazines 'Best Of' Photo Annual. He is the winner of two categories this year: Best Magazine Editorial (Seattle Metropolitan Parkour) and Best Corporate Photography (B/W Murals for REI). Chase Nails National APA Competition Again in 2007

(October 19, 2007)New York - Amidst various other outstanding photographers and images, Chase has again won the attention of the Advertising Photographers of America, winning the Merit Award for Action Photography in their 2007 National Photography Competition. There were 27 images recognized out of more than 2000 entries. Chase’s winning image, pictured above, is entitled Runner in LA and was shot for Brooks Running.

This marks the second year in a row that Chase has claimed a place is the esteemed APA competition, last year claiming the Merit Award in the Editorial category.

On acceptance of the award, Chase commented to APA Executive Director and CEO, Constance Evans, “Many thanks to Constance, the APA, and the distinguished panel of judges for this great award. It’s an honor to be considered in the same company as the rest of the talented artists and their winning entries.”

Chase Jarvis Kicks Off Photoshelter Tour in NYC

Mark your calendars - September 14, 2007, at the famous Filmore East auditorium in NYC.

The smart folks over at Photoshelter.com --that cool site you've been hearing a lot about lately that allows you to archive, distribute and license images directly-- have just put together a neat-o six city tour aiming to inform, unravel, and discuss what they're calling Photography 2.0: The Business of Photography in the Digital Era. Chase is scheduled to be the photographer keynote at the first of six events around the country.

The half day events are FREE and the format looks to be engaging, down-to-earth and accessible with speakers and/or panelists from all sides of the equation - photographers, photo buyers, software, hardware, etc - followed by a town hall style roundtable of Q&A, and wrapping up with a hosted reception.

Wired Magazine's Assignment Zero: Chase on Microstock

Chase was recently interviewed by Wired Magazine's crowdsourcing journalism experiment called Assignment Zero. Reporter Daniella Zalcman picked Chase's brain about the new rage in "microstock", what's become the term for low-price ($1-$5)images available online for commercial use.
"This industry is changing so much that you should never say never. There are people who once said, ‘Oh, I’ll never put my images in royalty-free,’ and now they are. Those people who were saying, ‘Never microstock!’ are going to eat their words..."

Chase's Personal Work Wins 2007 PDN Magazine Photo Annual

(May 10, 2007. New York City) Hot off the presses, Chase's Night Golf series (featured in the portfolio and highlighted in a recent Chase Jarvis FRAMES clip), has won Best Personal Work in the esteemed 2007 PDN Magazine Photo Annual. This is Chase's third category win in four years (2004, 2006, 2007) in arguably the core photo industry's most recognized award publication.

Seattle Post-Intelligencer Features Chase

April 28, 2007 (Seattle): The Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper (aka the Seattle P.I.) last Saturday filled the cover of it's Life and Arts section plus an inside page, with a lengthy lifestyle feature about Chase. PI Journalist, Kristin Dizon, and photographer, Scott Ecklund, collaborated on the piece. Dizon -a talented writer- was extremely thorough, focusing on the present, but also unearthing things from Chase's high school and college days. Chase's Blog Featured in AfterCapture Magazine

Writer Ethan G. Salwen of Buenos Aires, Argentina, recently examined the pros and cons of blogging and what it takes to make a successful web log for the photography trade magazine Aftercapture. In his piece titled Enter the Blogosphere, Salwen interviews a handful of top bloggers from the photo industry and solicits and collates great advice for starting--and keeping alive--an online community.
